The Life Of Elisha Graves Otis
Elisha Graves Otis was an inventor who changed the history of America by making the elevator possible for human use. He was brought up in Vermont living the life of a farmer. In 1854 Otis moved to New York hoping to have success with business. In New York he worked at Maize & Burns which was a bed company. In 1852, Otis came up with the idea of the safety brake and starting working on his invention. Finally, in 1853, Otis presented his invention in New York's Crystal Palace during a fair. This lead on to Otis and his brothers joining together and making a company called Otis Brothers & Company which later changed to Otis Elevator company. This is just the beginning of all the Otis successes that changed America.
